Pocket Tools Privacy Policy
Effective October 31, 2026
Pocket Tools is made by xTide Apps (Mayank Saxena), Brantford, Ontario, Canada. This policy covers the Pocket Tools app and the single-tool apps in the same family on iPhone and Android.
In short: Pocket Tools does not collect, store or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What stays on your phone
- Settings such as your chosen currencies, tunings, time zones, calibrations and saved measurements are kept on your device only. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Microphone (tuner and sound level meter): sound is analysed live on the device to find pitch or loudness. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent anywhere.
- Camera (torch): used only to switch the rear LED on and off. The app never takes photos or video.
- Motion sensors (spirit level and compass): read live on the device to show angles and headings.
- Approximate location (compass on Android, optional): read once to work out the local difference between magnetic and true north. It is not stored or sent. If you decline, the compass shows magnetic north.
- Notifications (timer on Android): used only to ring when your countdown ends.
The one network request
The currency wallet downloads current exchange rates from a public rates service (open.er-api.com). The request contains no information about you; like any internet request, the service sees your device's IP address. The last rates are kept on your device so the wallet works offline.
Children
Pocket Tools collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
